President
Yasushi NAGASAKA
The two educational approaches by which Tsuru Gakuen operates are expressed in its philosophy, "Education is love," and in its motto, "Always Walk Together with God and Serve Humanity." At Hiroshima Institute of Technology, we put these approaches into action through education aimed at cultivating highly ethical engineers and technical experts who will "serve society."
In the more than 50 years since its establishment, Hiroshima Institute of Technology has produced over 48,000 engineers and technical experts, and our graduates are currently active in a variety of different fields. My desire is to see our students equipped not only with specialized knowledge and skills but also with the confidence needed as engineers and technical experts to contribute productively to society in an era of uncertainty. Our education and support structures are focused on the needs of the individual student in order to help each of you reach your full potential.
Hiroshima Institute of Technology is made up of twelve departments divided among four faculties: the Faculty of Engineering, where the limits of technological potential are being explored and expanded, the Faculty of Applied Information Science, where information is being used as a means of developing the limitless, vital potential of humanity, the Faculty of Environmental Studies, where a future is being created in which our buildings, homes and communities can coexist in harmony with the earth's environment, and the Faculty of Life Sciences, where life-sustaining medical and food-related technologies are being developed. In these times of turbulent change, we remain steadfastly focused on our two, core educational philosophies as we strive to cultivate engineers and technical experts who are both highly ethical and capable. It is my sincere hope that all of you who are students here will value the connections you have with other people and society and will grow to become engineers and technical experts who make the world a better place.
