Major in Information Systems Science
Producing specialist engineers capable of contributing to our advanced information-oriented society.
Through academic instruction and practical research and development relating to information system technology in the four areas of “Computer Basics,” “Networks,” “Application Development” and “Management,” this major cultivates advanced information systems engineers who are equipped with creativity, practical expertise and the capacity to contribute to society as IT specialists offering greater functionality and value-added service suited to the needs of an advanced information-oriented society.
Areas of Study
-
Computers
Students in this area of study will develop their knowledge of computer system basic architecture, mathematical informatics, algorithm-based signal processing, information processing, neuro-information processing, etc. They will learn about platform-driven development technology and work to carry out cutting-edge information systems research and development utilizing information processing advanced technology. In addition, students will perform “Digital Systems Design Practical Training (coursework),” during which they will carry out digital circuit design methodology-based integrated circuit design and quality design methodology-based communications system quality evaluation with the aim of equipping them with the knowledge and skill necessary to perform ICT system design.
-
Networks
Students will carry out research and development related to the basic technology required for computer networks in an advanced information-oriented society. They will learn about network and distributed computing-related technology in order to cultivate the essential skills of an IT specialist. Also, in order to cultivate graduates capable of overall system development integration, students will undertake “Integrated Systems Development Practical Training (coursework),” during which they will develop a full-scale information processing system to carry out network-mediated computer system capture processing of real-world data obtained via sensor technology.
-
Application Development
Students will carry out research and development relating to a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) application fields relevant to an advanced information-oriented society. In particular, students will aim to develop cognitive science and human engineering-based human-computer interaction technology, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence-driven intelligent information processing technology for big data and multimedia databases containing graphic and textual data. Additionally, in order to cultivate graduates capable of developing intelligent application systems, students will undertake “Data Mining Practical Training (coursework),” during which they will develop data mining technology for extracting information and regular patterns from big data and databases.
-
Management
In order to develop as an advanced information services and software systems engineer, it is important to acquire and cultivate project and software engineering leadership and management skills. Students will undertake education and research related to practical technology for developing information systems which utilize appropriate resources to fulfill market and customer needs, as well as basic technology and software system design processes applicable to meeting a diverse range of demands in achieving business objects. Also, in order to produce graduates capable of project management, students will undertake “Web Service Systems Development Practical Training (coursework),” during which they will construct an information services system for business logistics cases.
